Teargas shelling and baton-charge: PPP files application for case registration against CM, others

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Thursday submitted an application at the East Cantt Police Station for the registration of a case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and others over the teargas shelling and baton-charge on the PPP workers during a protest.

The application was submitted by the PPP provincial president of, Syed Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, through Gohar Rehman Khattak advocate, the president of the People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF).

In the application, it was stated that the PPP was a democratic and peace-loving party. On May 26, PPP workers were holding a peaceful protest under the “Save the Province Movement” against corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Both provincial and central leadership participated in the protest, which remained peaceful. However, police in civvies conducted shelling on the protestors, videos of which have gone viral on social media.

The application also read that expired teargas was used during the shelling, and all of this was done on the instructions of the KP chief minister, who misused his authority.
