Dr Abdul Qadeer paid tribute
LAHORE : Dr AQ Khan Hospital Trust organised a special ceremony to pay tribute to Mohsin-e-Pakistan and founder of country’s nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on the eve of Youm-e-Takbeer here on Wednesday.
The purpose of the event was to refresh the memory of the historic day of May 28, 1998 and to pay homage to the architect of this great achievement, which made Pakistan the first Islamic nuclear power in the world.
Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan's daughter and Chairperson Dr AQ Khan Hospital Trust Dr Dina Khan presided over the session. Federal Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Lt-Gen (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Jamat-e-Islami General Secretary Amir-ul-Azeem, senior journalist Salman Ghani attended the session.
Prominent scholars, literary, scientific, educational, social and welfare personalities, a large number of students, teachers, researchers, experts of science and technology and civil society representatives from all over the country also participated in the ceremony.
They paid rich tribute to Dr AQ Khan, whose farsighted approach made Pakistan's defence impregnable, which was demonstrated by Pakistan's brave forces on May 10, when they rubbed Modi's nose in the dust.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dina Khan said that Youm-e-Takbeer is a symbol of our national pride and sovereignty. It is the day to remember Dr Qadeer’s struggles and sacrifices. She said that Dr AQ Khan Hospital Trust is a continuation of his dreams and mission, which is working to provide health and welfare services to the people.
"We are determined to continue his mission so as to bring real improvement in the lives of ordinary Pakistanis. We will continue Dr AQ Khan's great mission of humanitarian service by making the hospital an institution that provides quality health and dignified medical care to the patients without any discrimination”.
