Martyred cops paid tribute
LAHORE:Lahore Police paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the suicide attack on the Rescue 15 building on the occasion of its 16th anniversary.
A police guard visited the graves of Inspector Abdul Rauf Sultan, Constables Shakeel Ahmad, Umair Nazir, Nisar Mansha, Hafiz Muhammad Nadeem and Muhammad Akram. The smartly turned-out contingent of Lahore Police presented a ceremonial salute, laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha at the graves of the fallen heroes. The commemorative event honoured the ultimate sacrifice made by policemen in line of duty.
On May 27, 2009, six terrorists armed with hand grenades and firearms attacked the Rescue 15 building. The security officials displayed exceptional bravery, engaging the terrorists in a firefight and forcing them to retreat. In a cowardly final act, one of the terrorists detonated an explosive-laden vehicle, claiming the lives of the brave policemen. In a message, CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that Lahore Police’s history was filled with heroic sacrifices in line of duty.
