KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday dodged a question on the law and order in Sindh and referred it to the provincial home minister when he visited the residence of eminent Qawwal Amjad Sabri and offered condolences to the bereaved family over his death.

“Jawab do Sindh hakoomat jawab do (answer it Sindh govt answer it),” Bilawal says while pointing to Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial when a reporter asked about headway in investigations into the murder of Amjad Sabri and kidnapping of Owais Shah, son of the Sindh High Court chief justice.

Bilawal was accompanied by the Sindh home minister and his Political Secretary Jameel Soomro, said a Bilawal House Media Cell statement.

Talking to the bereaved family, the PPP chairman said he himself being the victim of terrorism could feel the pain Amjad Sabri’s family was facing. The mother of Amjad Sabri called Bilawal the heir of martyrs and herself a member of martyrs’ family. Amjad’s brother Sarwat Sabri said he had named his son Bilawal.

Bilawal said his party would promote music culture and religious harmony to combat the violent extremist mindset that robbed “us of our national cultural assets”. Sarwat proposed steps to promote Sufi music including Qawwali to encourage brotherhood, harmony and peace in the society.

As the PPP leader was leaving Amjad Sabri’s residence, reporters surrounded him to seek his views on measures taken by the Sindh government to maintain law and order. A reporter asked Bilawal about investigations headway towards probe into the murder of Sabri and kidnapping of Owais. In response, Bilawal quickly pointed towards the Sindh home minister who was standing beside him and said “Jawab do Sindh hakoomat jawab do”.  The PPP leader’s reply came as a surprise to the journalists while others reacted with laughter.
