CHARSADDA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture Major (Retd) Sajjad Barkwal on Friday distributed seed bags of high-yield maize varieties “Kaptaan” and “Jalal” among local farmers.
The minister visited the Hari Chand Agricultural Research Centre in Charsadda, where he reviewed ongoing activities at the facility.Sajjad Brakwal instructed agricultural scientists to broaden their research scope, emphasizing the need to address farmers’ requirements and adapt to climate change.
He stressed the development of crop varieties that align with ground realities to enhance per-acre yield and directly benefit farmers.He urged them to adopt modern crop varieties in collaboration with research institutions, aiming to boost their productivity and strengthen the province’s agricultural economy.
Earlier, the director of the centre briefed the provincial minister on ongoing projects, including the establishment of nurseries for high-quality vegetable and fruit plant varieties. These nurseries aim to provide local farmers with disease-resistant, high-yield plants at affordable rates.Additionally, the centre is cultivating advanced varieties of wheat, sugarcane, and maize, designed to withstand diseases and climatic shifts while ensuring higher productivity.
