LONDON: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Thursday he had signed a contentious deal to return the remote Chagos Islands to Mauritius after a judge paved the way for the deal to proceed.
Labour leader Starmer said the agreement was “the only way” to maintain British and American access to a key military base on the archipelago´s largest island of Diego Island.
