A crude oil tanker overturned in Landhi on Thursday, causing a temporary traffic disruption but no reported loss of life. According to police, the tanker—half-filled with crude oil—lost control and overturned at the busy intersection near the Landhi No 4 roundabout. Some of the oil spilled onto the road and eventually flowed into a nearby drain.
Several locals jumped into the drain to collect the spilled oil, filling up cans and transporting them on motorcycles. A heavy contingent of the police and Rangers arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and halted regular traffic to prevent further hazards. The tanker driver was taken into custody and shifted to the Landhi police station.
Traffic was redirected to the service road while heavy machinery was called in to remove the overturned tanker. Authorities first transferred the remaining oil to an empty tanker and then covered the oil on the road with soil to prevent slipping. After nearly four hours, the tanker was uprighted and removed, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.
