PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Central) president Abdul Wasi has expressed grave concern over the frequent emergence of mega corruption scandals in the province and urged the government to bring the truth before the nation.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Abdul Wasi said that those involved in the alleged embezzlement of Rs40 billion - reportedly withdrawn from banks in the underdeveloped district of Upper Kohistan - should be made public and held accountable for the wrongdoings.
Referring to the preliminary investigations and reports about some senior PTI officials’ involvement in the scandal, he stressed that no one should be spared in the pursuit of justice.“The provincial government must immediately expose those responsible for the massive corruption and award them punishment in accordance with the relevant law,” Abdul Wasi said.
He added that the frequent surfacing of large-scale corruption cases in the province has caused serious unrest among the people. The alleged misappropriation of Rs16 billion in the mosque solarisation project across the province also required urgent and transparent investigation, the JI leader maintained.
