HYDERABAD: Following a rally organised by the Sindhi National Congress in Hyderabad against corporate farming and six canals project, the Hyderabad Cantt police registered a case against eight leaders of the Sindhi National Congress, along with 40 other women and 250 unidentified men.
Police raided the home of Sindhi intellectual and writer Taj Joyo on Sunday night arresting his two sons Rooplo Joyo and Hosho Joyo. They were produced before an anti-terrorism court, which subsequently approved two-day remand of them.
The rally, which was held on the call of the Sindhi National Congress, had marched from the State Bank to the Hyderabad Press Club, protesting against corporate farming and the six canals project. Hundreds of people, including women, had participated in the demonstration.
According to the FIR lodged at the Hyderabad Cantt police station, anti-state slogans were chanted during the rally. The FIR was registered under the sections 123-A, 147, 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Sections 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
