24 members of 10 criminal gangs arrested

LAHORE: Punjab Police arrested 24 members of 10 criminal gangs in a 24-hour operation across the province.

The crackdown led to the recovery of 122 firearms, including Kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, and shotguns, along with hundreds of bullets.

According to the police spokesperson, seized items also included 30 motorcycles, 15 mobile phones, five cattle, and Rs2 million in cash. Additionally, 321 proclaimed offenders, 149 court absconders, and 68 habitual criminals were apprehended. During the raids, four criminals were killed, four injured, and three arrested. Police vowed to continue strict action against criminal elements.

Rs2.215m prizes approved for police athletes

IG Punjab has approved cash prizes totaling Rs2.215 million and certificates of appreciation for 43 police athletes in recognition of their exceptional performance in national sports events.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the awardees include athletes, coaches, managers, and players. This year, police athletes secured 18 medals including three gold, four silver, and 11 bronze medals in various competitions. Notably, four women officers were among the medalists.

The medals were won in sports such as bodybuilding, golf, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, wushu, kungfu and tug-of-war.

CCD’s performance reviewed

A high-level meeting on the performance of the newly formed Counter Crime Department (CCD) was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of IG Punjb.

Additional IG CCD, Additional IG Operations Punjab, and senior officers attended in person, while RPOs, DPOs, ROs, and DOs from Rawalpindi and Sargodha joined via video link.

IG Punjab reviewed CCD's progress against policy targets. The ROs of Rawalpindi and Sargodha briefed on achievements, with IG commending RO Sargodha for effective action against heinous crimes. He praised the strong coordination between CCD and district police, supported by complete logistical and human resources.

IG instructed officers to intensify efforts in arresting high-profile offenders and ensuring data and case records are thoroughly maintained. He also emphasized accelerating efforts to recover missing women and children.
