We must appreciate the evolution of Pakistani media since the country's independence. Currently, Pakistan has approximately 800 newspapers published in various languages, including Urdu, English, Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto. Additionally, the country has dozens of private TV news channels operating alongside the state-run Pakistan Television.
The media has played a significant role in highlighting socio-cultural issues in the country, shedding light on critical matters such as poverty, inflation, unemployment, illiteracy and corruption. By raising awareness of various social issues, the media enhances public knowledge. The government must ensure media freedom and allow it to operate without any restrictions.
