Lessons for India
Throughout the Indian government’s belligerent attack on Pakistan last week and its media’s highly irresponsible behaviour amidst the conflict, the Pakistan government and media maintained a high degree of rectitude and responsibility. The approach of the two countries could not have been more different. No authority figure on our side issued any proactive and jingoistic statements and established credible conventional deterrence, forestalling further Indian escalation.
Hopefully, India has learnt a bitter lesson and will refrain from such aggression in future. India should also abandon its strategy of blaming Pakistan for every terror attack on its soil without any evidence. Both neighbours should confront the terror menace together and cooperate on issues like poverty and development as well.
