Young man shot dead by robbers in Gulshan
A young man was shot dead by unidentified robbers near Dhaka Sweets in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Wednesday. With this incident, the number of people killed by robbers in the city so far this year has risen to 41.
The incident occurred near NIPA Chowrangi within the jurisdiction of the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. According to police, the victim was identified as 26-year-old Kamran Abbas, son of Ghulam Abbas, who worked at a private school. A spokesperson for the Karachi police said he was shot when he offered resistance during a mugging bid, and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said they were collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from the surrounding area, to help identify the suspects. A case has been registered and investigations are under way.
Separately, two persons were shot and injured by unidentified suspects during a robbery bid in North Nazimabad. The victims included 32-year-old Rafaqat and Sakhawat, 25. They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
