Islamabad: In response to a recent request from the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh, regarding the significant number of vacant seats in medical and dental colleges, the Council of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council after deliberation has decided to give a one-time relaxation in the broader interest of public.
Under this relaxation, the Council revised its admission criteria i.e one-time relaxation in five per cent decrease in MDCAT qualifying criteria for MBBS and BDS Admissions (2024–25 Session) only due to a significant number of vacant seats, in all provinces.
The special provision applies only to the 2024–25 academic session and is intended strictly to facilitate the filling of remaining vacant seats. It shall not be considered as a precedent for any future admission. The PMDC said it remained committed to upholding merit and transparency while also ensuring that national educational resources are utilised efficiently and in the public interest.
