Over 3,800 encroachments removed

LAHORE:District administration continued its grand operation to rid the city of illegal encroachments in a bid to enhance beauty of provincial capital.

The administration removed over 3,800 encroachments across various areas, ensuring wider roads and improved public spaces for residents. The operation has targeted key areas, including Kahna, Samanabad, Green Town, Township, Model Town, Gulberg, Multan Road, and Circular Road. A total of 31 trucks were used to confiscate materials from illegal structures, such as temporary stalls and unauthorised sheds, which were promptly demolished. Additionally, countless banners, posters, and streamers cluttering the city’s landscape were removed, contributing to a cleaner and more organised environment. To enforce compliance, the administration lodged two FIRs against those resisting the crackdown, underscoring its commitment to upholding the law. Prior to the operation, notices were issued to encroachers, as confirmed by Metropolitan Officer Regulation Kashif Jalil, giving them ample opportunity to comply.

Chief Officer Shahid Kathia emphasised that the admin is fully dedicated to making provincial capital an encroachment-free city, with efforts continuing until the goal is achieved. The operation has not only cleared public spaces but also improved traffic flow, reducing travel times and enhancing the daily commute for residents. The admin’s impartial approach ensures no one is spared, regardless of influence, making this a fair and transparent campaign, he added.
