IGP orders establishment of driving training schools

Sindh Police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office on Monday and ordered establishment of driving training centers in the province.

The meeting was informed that the building and location had been selected by the Sindh police for the establishment of the first government driving training school of its kind in Karachi and in the first phase.

The driver training school is being formally started in Karachi as a pilot project. The meeting was attended by DIGs of DLT, T&T, SPPU, Establishment, Headquarters, Finance, IT, Training and other police officers.

DIG Driving Licence and Training Iqbal Dara gave a briefing to the meeting regarding the location, current status and commencement of the driving training school and said that a building located in the premises of the Police Training College Saeedabad in Karachi had been selected.

In addition, the date of admission and commencement of classes will be announced after the basic necessary repairs and provision of equipment in the building. In the briefing, he said training would be provided in the school for obtaining motorcycle, LTV and HTV licences.

The IGP that in order to prevent traffic accidents in Karachi and especially to ensure quality training for drivers, it was decided to establish a driving school in collaboration with the Sindh Police and other institutions.

He said the establishment of a driving school and those trained under it would also be able to get certain help and convenience in obtaining a driving licence, while the establishment of the school would enable drivers to be trained according to professional skills, driving standards and guidelines.
