QUETTA: An assailant was killed and another arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire with police, following a hand grenade attack at a residential quarter in Gwadar that injured three people.

According to police a hand grenade was hurled on Sunday at a residential quarter near Syed Hashumi Avenue in Gwadar, where residents from Punjab were staying. The grenade exploded, injuring three people -- Abdul Ghaffar, Naveed Ahmed, and Anwar -- all residents of Muzaffargarh.
As the attackers tried to flee while firing, police present at the place retaliated. In the ensuing gunfight an assailant was killed, while the second attacker was arrested in injured condition. Police constable Muhammad Khumari was critically wounded in the exchange of fire and later succumbed to his injuries.
