Law requiring all hospitals to attend to road accident cases enacted: Nisar
Sindh Minister for Energy, Development and Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said the Sindh government has enacted laws requiring all hospitals in the province to respond to and attend to road accident victims.
Moreover, immediate steps should be taken to save lives and provide first aid to those injured in road accidents. He emphasized that those bringing injured individuals should be treated with respect and not harassed or troubled unnecessarily, and that victims should not be intimidated under any circumstances.
He expressed these views during his address as the guest of honour at the 5th Road Safety Conference, held at a local hotel on Thursday. The occasion was also attended by Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho, founder and chairman of Youth Parliament, Rizwan Jaffer, along with other personalities from the city.
The provincial minister said that to protect lives and property and to reduce road accidents caused by carelessness and speeding, fines have been increased. He added that while the responsibility of law enforcement lies with the public, the government bears the greatest duty to ensure compliance.
He also mentioned that the Safe City Project is being modernized with new technology to improve road safety. Additionally, ambulance services provided by 1122 are being enhanced and expanded in scope.
He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the Road Safety Conference will be far-reaching, raising awareness among youth and the public alike. The conference officials will present their recommendations, and all feasible measures will be undertaken for the public welfare.
He highlighted that the Red Lane Project on University Road is scheduled for rapid completion under the special directives of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, due to these efforts, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon are actively involved. Infrastructure across Karachi and the entire province is being improved.
Regarding public health initiatives, Nasir Hussain Shah said that for Eidul Azha, Solid Waste Management has devised an excellent plan, and waste collection is now operational throughout Karachi. Citizens will notice significant and positive changes in cleanliness and sanitation during this Eid, especially regarding sacrificial remains and general cleanliness. To combat corruption, online systems have been established in the Anti-Corruption Establishment to promote transparency. Immediate action will be taken on public complaints.
He further announced that on the special instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, urban forestry has been established in Karachi, including large community forests along Lyari Expressway and Malir Expressway.
The Youth Parliament is urged to submit any plans for citywide afforestation; the government will fund these initiatives promptly. In a political context, Nisar Shah said the Modi government has launched a war based on false accusations, attempting to harm the country by cutting off water supplies. India is attacking our civilian population, but Pakistan’s armed forces are only targeting military installations.
He asserted that 240 million people stand shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and are united against Modi’s government. Every Hindu, Sikh, and Christian residing in Pakistan supports the Pakistan Army, he said.
