Islamabad: The prices of readymade garments have increased to the extent where the common people are almost no more able
to buy new dresses to
enjoy the festivity of the Eid days.

"I am here in Aabpara Market that is believed to be one of the low-profile markets in the city. But the rates of readymade garments
here are so high that I have dropped the idea at the
moment to buy new clothes for my kids," said Riasat Khan, a resident of G-7 sector.

He said the shopkeepers are exploiting the common people for profits so the local administration must develop a mechanism
to keep check over the
rates of the readymade garments.

The Eid shopping is
gaining momentum with each passing day and
the rush of visitors has visibly increased at the markets and bazaars of the twin cities.

The people belonging to elite segments of the society are equally perturbed as the rates of branded garments have also sky-rocketed in last few weeks.

Nazia Tariq, a visitor at Jinnah Super Market, said the shopkeepers have introduced Eid rates on their own will and there is no one to keep check over them.

"It is an illegal act that the shopkeepers demand extra charges on branded garments despite the fact that they are bound to sell them out on the fixed rate. When we talk about it with shopkeepers they say that these are Eid rates," she said.
