PARACHINAR: Urging tribal elders to extend full cooperation in maintaining law and order, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Thursday said that all possible steps were being taken to restore peace in Kurram district.

Addressing tribal jirgas in Parachinar and Sadda during his visit to the region, Shahab Ali Shah said he was well aware of the hardships faced by locals due to the recent unrest. He said that the government was committed to taking effective measures for lasting peace. The official added that the purpose of his visit was to witness the situation firsthand and take immediate action to resolve public grievances.

During the jirgas, tribal elders highlighted the challenges faced by the community, particularly the need to open and secure travel routes and to provide support for those affected by the violence.

Later, speaking to The News at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Parachinar, Shahab Ali Shah said that efforts were underway to improve the condition of the health facility and address staffing and other operational issues.

The chief secretary said that it was time for tribal elders to play their role in promoting peace and to stand united against the handful of elements seeking to destabilise the region. “These miscreants must not be allowed to disrupt the hard-earned peace again,” he added.
