LAHORE:Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar Thursday said the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) would construct the country’s largest boxing sports complex.
Chairing a meeting, the minister said the boxing complex aims to position Punjab as the hub for boxing in the country. He said the long-overdue initiative will provide advanced facilities for athletes and marks a historic milestone for the development of sports in the province.
The meeting also addressed key strategies for fostering national and international sports collaboration where players from Pakistan and Bangladesh will compete in matches hosted by each other, along with exchanges of sports delegations to strengthen bilateral ties and players from Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will travel to Lahore for matches, while Punjab’s athletes will participate in games in other provinces.
The federation and Punjab will jointly develop a sports calendar to streamline events and ensure coordination. The meeting highlighted plans to formulate a unified policy for awarding prize money to athletes who achieve victories at the international level.
The minister directed DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry to create a WhatsApp group to facilitate joint working between the federation and provincial bodies.
