‘Punjab makes progress in cotton cultivation’
LAHORE:The Punjab Agriculture Department has achieved a milestone in its cotton cultivation drive, reaching 28pc of its target mainly through early-sowing.
This was revealed in a meeting chaired by Secretary Agriculture Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. As per target achieved, participants were informed that 28pc of the total target of 3.5 million acres has been achieved. Bahawalpur Division's role was specifically highlighted. This division is expected to contribute 50pc of the total target, underscoring its importance in Punjab's cotton production. The current trend in cotton cultivation is promising, reflecting the effectiveness of the department's strategies.
The department is taking practical steps to ensure a steady supply of irrigation water in cotton-growing areas, crucial for the crop's success. Ongoing technical guidance is being provided for the early cultivation and maintenance of cotton, helping farmers optimise their yields.
