What is happening in Afghanistan is not just a policy issue, it is a moral catastrophe. Around 1.4 million girls in Afghanistan have been denied their right to education since 2021, according to Unesco.
This is not a temporary suspension. It is the creation of a system of gender-based exclusion. The international community, including the Muslim world, must not treat this tragedy as routine diplomacy. Recognition and aid must hinge on real steps to restore education.
