WANA: The Badloon Welfare Association, a non-governmental entity, on Thursday organised a large-scale enrollment awareness walk here to boost education in Lower South Waziristan.
This event attracted enthusiastic participation from school students, educators, political leaders and civil society activists. The streets of Wana came alive with the marchers holding colorful banners and placards adorned with motivational slogans - many urging parents to enroll their children, particularly girls, in schools.
The walk was both a symbol of rising hope and a call for urgent educational reform in a region where literacy remains alarmingly low.Speaking to the media, representatives from Badloon Welfare Association stressed the importance of such initiatives. “Lower Waziristan is full of gifted children, but unfortunately, a lack of awareness, poor infrastructure, and limited opportunities continue to stifle their potential,” a spokesperson said. “This walk is more than a demonstration- it’s a grassroots effort to awaken the community and build momentum for long-term educational development.”
School principals Zar Muhammad and Saifur Rehman stressed the need for launching joint efforts. “Education is not a privilege. It is a fundamental right and the backbone of any developing society,” said Principal Zar Muhammad. “Without education, there is no economic progress, no social reform, and no peace.”
