A woman and young man were killed on Monday in traffic accidents in Orangi Town and Defence respectively. In another incident, a speedy cement mixer truck hit three vehicles on the Lyari Expressway.

So far during the current year, 10 people have lost their lives after being hit by buses in Karachi while 85 others have been killed by heavy vehicles. In Orangi Town No 5 on Monday, a woman was killed after a speedy passenger bus hit her. Following the accident, police and rescue workers reached the scene and transported the casualty to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased woman was identified as Ambreen.

Police said the bus driver, identified as Aslam, was arrested and a case registered against him. In Defence, a motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle collided with a parked water tanker near Defence Morr. According to rescue officials, the body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Separately, a speedy cement mixer truck hit three vehicles on the Lyari Expressway. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the accident. The accident took place near Sohrab Goth. It is pertinent to be mentioned that heavy traffic is not allowed on the expressway.

Following the accident, police reached the scene and detained the driver and cleaner of the cement mixer truck. Police said the driver had shown them a driving licence that had been issued from Balochistan but it seemed fake and they were trying to verify it.
