WANA: In a bid to boost education in South Waziristan Lower, the Wana Welfare Association (WAWA) has launched its annual mass enrollment campaign across the district, including the main town of Wana and the tehsils of Shakai and Birmal.

The initiative witnessed widespread participation from local school principals, tribal elders, civil society representatives, and concerned citizens - demonstrating a unified commitment to achieving universal education in the region.

Awareness walks were held in Wana, Shakai, and Azam Warsak, with the central rally taking place in Wana Bazaar. The event was led by Deputy Commissioner of Lower Waziristan, Nasir Khan, and WAWA president Rehmatullah Wazir. Large crowds turned out, carrying placards and banners bearing messages urging parents to enroll their children in school and underscoring the value of education for long-term peace and development.

In a symbolic gesture to kick-start the campaign, the deputy commissioner formally admitted two children into a government school, marking the official launch of this year’s enrollment drive.
