CJP holds consultative session with lawyers
SC appointed Waseemur Rehman Khakwani, as additional registrar (Judicial) on deputation basis for one year
ISLAMABAD: As part of his efforts to engage stakeholders in improved justice service delivery, a consultative session was held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.
The session was attended by Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, senior SC advocates including Khawaja Haris, Kamran Murtaza, Faisal Siddiqui and Munir Paracha. The session was intended to seek the participants’ views on reforms, inexpensive justice, litigants’ facilitation and integrated policy approach to re-aligning the justice system in the country.
Emphasizing the role of the bar in administration of justice, the CJP/chairman National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee asserted that only those reforms yielded results that had ownership of stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the SC appointed Waseemur Rehman Khakwani, a judicial officer from the Punjab judiciary, as additional registrar (Judicial) on a deputation basis for a period of one year. “Khakwani will lead judicial operations, streamline case management process and support initiatives to enhance transparency of judicial delivery,” says a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of the apex court.
