Ten held after mob attacks food chain outlet in DHA
Police on Tuesday arrested at least ten people for attacking an international food chain's restaurant located in Karachi's Defence Khayaban-e-Ittehad area.
According to police, a group of angry people attacked and vandalized the outlet, prompting a swift response from the South District Police. It was not immediately clear why the property was vandalized.
According to the spokesperson for the District South Police, a heavy police contingent reached the scene shortly after receiving information about the incident. During the operation, 10 individuals were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the vandalism. One of the detainees was found in possession of a hammer.
The protesters reportedly damaged the restaurant’s main entrance and smashed the glass windows. Police immediately brought the situation under control and deployed additional personnel around the premises.
Patrolling in the area has also been intensified. Police said an investigation into the incident was underway and strict legal action would be taken against those found guilty of taking the law into their own hands.
