Bandit injured, arrested after ‘encounter’ with police
LAHORE:Police arrested an injured bandit during an exchange of fire in Manga Mandi on Tuesday, while his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
The incident occurred after authorities received a 15 emergency call reporting that three robbers had snatched a citizen's motorcycle in the area. A police team responded and pursued the suspects. “During the chase, the bandits opened fire to avoid arrest," a police spokesperson said. “In the crossfire, one robber – later identified as Zahid Abbas – was wounded by his own accomplices' bullets." Police transported the injured suspect to hospital and confirmed he was a “recorded criminal.
Two bodies found
Police recovered bodies of two unidentified men from different parts of the City on Tuesday and have begun the process of locating their families, officials said. According to Edhi officials, a 22-year old man was found dead on a footpath in Kot Lakhpat, while in Chuhng, a 60-year old man was discovered unconscious near Thokar Niaz Beg bypass. The elderly man was rushed to hospital but could not survive. Both bodies were moved to the morgue.
