Leaders like Bhutto born after centuries, says governor

LAHORE:Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that a leader like Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is born after centuries. Shaheed Bhutto never bowed down before any dictator. He was hanged in a controversial case in 1979, adding that Supremes Court also admitted that he was not given fair trial. He said that the memory of Shaheed Bhutto is still alive in the hearts of the people.

He expressed these views on Friday in a statement on the occasion of the death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Sardar Saleem Haider said that the role of Shaheed Bhutto in the unanimous approval of the Constitution of Pakistan in 1973 was historic. He said that Bhutto laid the foundation of the country’s nuclear programme. The governor said that the PPP, founded by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Lahore, has today become an important political force in the country, which has its own identity not only in Sindh, but also in other provinces including the Federation.

He said that Bhutto’s daughter, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, remained the Prime Minister of the country twice and his son-in-law Asif Ali Zardari is the President of the country today. Sardar Saleem Haider while paying tribute to the services of Shaheed Bhutto for the nation, said that he gave awareness to the workers and the downtrodden classes.

The governor said that the PPP is actively working for the welfare of the people in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Bhutto. He said that the doors of the Governor’s House have been opened for the people and workers. He further said that today Pakistan needs such a leadership whose only vision is a strong and stable Pakistan.

The governor said that all the resources of the world are available in Pakistan, if there is a shortage, then it is leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. He said that Bilawal Bhutto embodies the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of his illustrious lineage, inheriting the remarkable qualities of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. With his inherent capabilities, he is poised to propel Pakistan forward, building upon the legacy of his predecessors.

Like other parts of country, PPP Lahore supporters also observed the 46th death anniversary of party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. In PP-150, a gathering of party workers was held that paid rich tribute to the Shaheed Bhutto. Meanwhile, a Quran recitation was organised at the People's Secretariat Model Town by Yasir Bara, President of People's Youth Lahore.
