KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly once again reverberated with the slogan of “Mohajir province” while it also heard the slogans of no-division of Sindh province in response to the slogan, said Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo News programme, ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’, on Monday.

He said that politics in other provinces had transcended the linguistic concerns and is focusing on performance and resolution of people’s issues whereas in Sindh it’s the same old story revolving around age-old linguistic views.

Shahzeb said that both the PPP and the MQM have been indulging in keeping the linguistic politics alive.

He said MQM was being criticized that it only talks about Karachi’s problems while in the opposition but it does nothing when in power.  In a different segment of the programme, Shahzeb said that Pakistan is trying its best to deal with the challenges emerging on its eastern and western borders.

While commenting on the action against defunct organizations in Punjab, Shahzeb Khanzada said that the leadership of the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi has been wiped out in a crackdown on the defunct organizations in Punjab while the leadership of Hizbul Tahrir has been put behind bars.

Shahzeb Khanzada, while commenting on the corruption scandal of former Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani, said that NAB had unearthed 22 of his bungalows in Karachi’s most expensive locality, Defence Housing Authority. Out of the 22 bungalows, 12 have been sealed.

Shahzeb Khanzada said that the Sindh and the federal governments have been having a row over the videos of high-profile accused who are under arrest. It is not being found who is behind those videos.

Senior analyst Mazhar Abbas said on the programme that in Pakistani politics the vote is being cast on linguistic basis. He said that both the PPP and MQM derive some benefits when the two parties quarrel with each other.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry, while talking to Shahzeb Khanzada on the programme, said that Pak-Afghan border management will help the two countries in eliminating terrorism. He said that Afghanistan agrees with Pakistan’s stance over border management.

Aizaz Chaudhry said there should be uniformity in the criteria for admission into the NSG of those countries which have not signed the NPT.  The foreign secretary said that India’s inclusion into the Nuclear Suppliers Group will destabilize South Asia.

Aizaz Chaudhry said that inclusion of India in the NSG on priority basis will not achieve the objectives of non-proliferation. He said that the world had suffered due to the US nuclear deal with India in 2008.

Many countries are saying that the deal has been a setback to the goal of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The adviser to the chief minister on law, Murtaza Wahab, said on the programme that the leaked videos of the suspects who are under arrest have no legal validity. He said that Chaudhry Nisar should give the suggestion to form an investigation commission to the Sindh government through a letter.
