Traffic police recruit two transgender officers
LAHORE : Lahore Traffic Police has recruited two transgender individuals as Victim Support Officers to crack down on women beggars across the city.
The newly appointed officers, Muskan and Khushboo, will work alongside traffic police teams to identify and take action against female beggars, particularly transgender panhandlers. Their role includes raising awareness about anti-begging operations and guiding the transgender community toward lawful livelihoods.
The initiative comes as part of a broader campaign against organised begging rings. The Traffic Police has also activated its Lady Traffic Warden Education Wing to specifically target women beggars.
Female officers will conduct regular crackdowns, detaining offenders and transferring them to nearby police stations or Edhi Homes.
