Two minor girls die after mistakenly consuming bleach
LAHORE : Two young sisters lost their lives after accidentally consuming bleach at their relative’s house in Barki.
The victims, identified as two-year-old Aizal and four-year-old Jannat, were playing at their aunt’s residence when the incident occurred.
According to police officials, the sisters reportedly ingested the toxic substance, commonly used for washing clothes, which led to their immediate deterioration. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, though preliminary reports suggest it was an accidental case. The family of the deceased refused to conduct a post-mortem, following which the police completed the necessary legal formalities and handed over the bodies to the heirs.
The heartbreaking incident has left the local community in a shock and mourning. This unfortunate event highlights the critical need for awareness about child safety and the proper storage of household chemicals.
Shopkeeper dies in crossfire
A shopkeeper was killed during the crossfire between two rival groups in Kahna locality on Wednesday.
Reportedly, men of Ali Bhatti group and Zeeshan Ali group exchanged harsh words over an issue and traded fire and Malik Boota was caught in the crossfire and died on the spot. The victim was running a puncture repair shop in the locality.
149 drug dealers arrested
Punjab police conducted 271 raids on drug peddlers’ hideouts across the province and arrested 149 drug peddlers during the last 24 hours. Punjab Police spokesperson said that 58 kg charas, 7 kg heroin, 3 kg ice and more than 1,700 litres of alcohol were also recovered during raids.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, intelligence-based Search and Sweep Operations are under way across the province by Punjab Police. According to the details, 43 Search and Sweep Operations were conducted in the last 24 hours, 467 people were identified and interrogated. Around 343 combing operations, 8,606 suspects were checked, 55 suspects were taken into custody. During the search operations, checking, 309 declared persons, 141 court fugitives, 62 habitual criminals involved in heinous crimes were arrested. Illegal weapons and bullets were recovered from them.
4 bike thieves held
Sabzazar police Wednesday arrested four motorcycle thieves.
According to a police spokesperson, the police detained gang’s ringleader Adnan and his accomplices identified as Sikandar, Ali, and Talal, and recovered stolen motorcycle engines, chassis, spare parts, a motorcycle, pump-action gun, three pistols and mobile phones from their possession. The accused allegedly were involved in multiple cases of motorcycle theft across the city.
