LAHORE: Telenor Pakistan has invested over $5 billion in the country’s economy and contributed more than Rs500 billion in direct and indirect taxes over the past two decades, said a press release on Friday.
According to the company, it continues to serve a strong customer base of 44 million while working towards reducing inequalities through technology for a digital Pakistan. Recognising the need for seamless connectivity in northern Pakistan, the mobile operator has made substantial infrastructure investments. Recently, it launched 4G services in Hunza and upgraded networks in Gilgit and Skardu, enhancing tourism and enabling e-commerce opportunities, the statement said.
In addition to connectivity, Telenor Pakistan continues to drive technological innovation. In collaboration with a Chinese partner, it achieved a national record data transmission speed of 1.9 Gbps over 11.6 kilometres and conducted Pakistan’s fastest cellular 5G trial. These milestones reinforce its commitment to expanding high-speed internet and strengthening the digital ecosystem.
