The Boards and Universities Department has sent a summary to the chief minister of Sindh for the appointment of vice chancellors to nine universities of Sindh.

The universities are: Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law Karachi, Sheikh Ayaz University Shikarpur, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, University of Larkana, Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Sindh University Jamshoro, Government College University Hyderabad, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Sakrand.

The summary states that since the expiry of the term of some vice chancellors, the additional charge of the acting vice chancellors in these public sector universities has been temporarily assigned under supervision or additional charge arrangements, while in some universities the term of the vice chancellors is about to end.

The summary has sought approval from the chief minister to issue advertisements in these nine universities as per the newly amended act. The chief minister is not giving a second tenure to the vice chancellor of any university as per the new policy, and in his place the most senior professor is being appointed as acting vice chancellor. In this regard, the Boards and Universities Department has already called for the names of senior professors.
