Over 2,000 bikers fined for not wearing helmets

PESHAWAR: The City Traffic Police imposed a fine on over 2,000 motorcyclists for not wearing helmets as part of a safety crackdown, officials said on Wednesday.

They said that a special awareness campaign had also been launched through digital screens across the provincial capital.Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan had directed strict enforcement of rules on helmetless riders to reduce casualties in road accidents.

To improve traffic discipline, the traffic police had also conducted training programmes aimed at educating citizens about road safety and traffic regulations. These initiatives seek not only to prevent accidents but also to ease congestion in the city.

“In addition to taking action against violators, an awareness campaign has been initiated through digital screens in Peshawar Cantonment with the support of the army,” said Traffic Police spokesperson Shahab Umarzai.
