Five uplift schemes worth over Rs21bn approved
LAHORE:Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved five development schemes worth over Rs21 billion.
The approval was made in the 68th meeting of the PDWP held here on Tuesday. The meeting was presided over by Planning and Development (P&D) Board Chairman Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan.
The approved schemes included development of urban bus depots & allied infrastructure in Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs1.582 billion, minority development fund at a cost of Rs2.1 billion, Central Punjab non-formal education project at a cost of Rs4.758 billion, South Punjab non-formal education project at a cost of Rs7.555 billion and North Punjab non-formal education project at a cost of Rs5.299 billion. The meeting was attended by P&D Board Secretary Dr Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board, and other senior officers.
LDA to activate more sports complexes
Lahore Development Authority (LDA), on the special instructions of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, will soon activate more sports complexes. LDA DG Tahir Farooq in this regard visited LDA Sports Complex Minar-e-Pakistan and reviewed the facilities available there.
LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, Project Director and Director Sports gave a briefing in which they said that Minar-e-Pakistan Sports Complex has been built on 46-kanal land. This complex has indoor and outdoor sports and physical activity facilities for men and women. Tahir Farooq reviewed all sections of the sports complex including modern machinery and the arrangements for activating the sports complex.
Speaking on the occasion, LDA DG said that the activation of Minar-e-Pakistan Sports Complex will provide great convenience to the residents of the adjacent areas. The sports complex has e-library, snooker, table tennis, badminton, squash courts, gymnasium and other facilities. He said that LDA will also activate West Canal near EME and China Scheme Sports Complexes. The membership of EME Sports Complex has been opened for citizens, he informed.
102 properties sealed
LDA teams conducted a full-scale operation against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters and sealed 102 properties in different areas here on Tuesday. LDA teams conducted operations in Johar Town, Gulberg, New Garden Town, Allama Iqbal Town, and around Main Canal Road. The properties sealed include private schools, restaurants, salons, academies, workshops, food points, shops, offices, etc.
