Zero corruption policy being implemented in Health Dept: Salman
LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said that 250 corrupt people have been removed from the health department and a zero tolerance policy is being implemented on corruption.
He shared this information while addressing the Chief Minister Honhaar Scholarship award ceremony at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Saturday.
Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan also attended the ceremony. KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof M Moin, Registrar Prof M Imran, Director Medical Education Prof Abrar Ashraf, Prof Saqib Sohail, Director Finance KEMU Afshan Salman and a large number of students were also present on this occasion.
Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique while addressing the ceremony said that the students sitting here are very talented. The pictures in this historic hall show all the legends of the medical world. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is working hard for the welfare of masses. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz listened to their requests with great patience. Every generation of ours will have to work hard to make Pakistan a great country.
He said scholarships worth Rs15.8 million were given to the students of King Edward Medical University in accordance with the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister. It is very commendable that all the educational expenses of the deserving children will be borne by the Punjab government.
Provincial Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan said that the Honhaar Scholarship Programme is the biggest programme in history. This scholarship is being given to 61 percent of the students. The state is like a mother and we have to serve it. We are going to start a free MD CAT programme in the future, he informed.
He said that scholarships will be given in 36 medical colleges. In the future, laptops will also be given to talented students on merit. One hundred and ten thousand laptops will be distributed this year. “We want to create such a system that the provision of scholarships and laptops continues in the coming periods as well”.
KEMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mahmood Ayaz expressed his gratitude to both the ministers whose efforts made this ceremony possible. We are grateful to Punjab Chief Minister for giving 224 scholarships on merit. Scholarships were given to MBBS, Allied Health Sciences and DPT students of King Edward Medical University. This initiative of the Chief Minister for the promotion of education by the Punjab government is the most important.
