2 killed, 5 injured in Swat firing incident

MINGORA: Two persons were killed and five others were injured in a firing incident at a mosque in Saidu Sharif here on Friday.

Police officials said the firing incident occurred at Allah Akbar Masjid, close to Central Hospital Saidu Sharif in Swat district where a man resorted to open fire. Upon receiving the information, the Rescue 1122 medical team promptly arrived at the scene. They said that seven people were injured in the firing incident, out of whom two succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have been identified as Sajjad, and Muhammad Akbar, both residents of Shaheen Abad.

The Rescue 1122 medical team provided immediate first aid to the injured on-site and swiftly transferred them to Saidu Sharif Central Hospital for further medical treatment. The injured include: Shahi Rawan, Kamran, Latif Khan, Sharif and Ehsan.

According to police, the suspect was arrested along with his weapon. Initially, the suspect fired shots inside the mosque and then fled towards a nearby hospital area, where he was apprehended by police.
