KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has asked all sports federations and departments to completely disregard any correspondence, notifications, or decisions issued by the so-called Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, as it has no legal sanctity.
In a notification to all sports federations, M Waqar Ahmed, Assistant Director (NF), PSB, stated that the Interim Committee duly formed by the PSB remains the sole body managing weightlifting affairs in Pakistan. “Legal action shall be considered against individuals responsible for falsely using the PSB name and misrepresenting their authority.
“Any grievances or concerns regarding the registration or participation of athletes should be referred to the PSB-appointed Interim Committee, which is the only competent body to handle such matters,” stated the PSB.
The PSB advised all stakeholders to ensure compliance with this directive and report any further unauthorized actions by the suspended body to the PSB at the earliest. It is to be noted that the PWLF is not recognized by the PSB and has been suspended on account of doping violations.
