PPP suffered political setback after alliance with PML-N: Punjab governor
Governor highlights immediate holding of local body elections is a justified public demand
JHANG: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Thursday said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) faced a political loss after the general elections due to its alliance with the PML-N. He stated that after the election results, the PPP attempted to reach a consensus with the PTI for the formation of the government, but Imran Khan was unwilling to engage with the mainstream political parties.
During his first visit to the Jhang district, he addressed a public gathering organized by the PPP at Chiniot More, where he was warmly welcomed by local leaders, including Faheem Rahi and Madam Azma Bukhari.
Sardar Saleem emphasized that the PPP has a distinct political and public service vision compared to the PML-N, but the alliance was formed in the larger interest of the country and political stability. He criticized the PML-N, stating that PPP parliamentarians and farmers are frustrated with the PML-N’s power corridors, as they fail to address the needs of the general public, including the lack of medicines at public health outlets. Governor revealed that President Zardari, during his visit to Lahore, listened to the grievances of PPP leaders and assured them that he would discuss the implementation of the political accord with PM Shehbaz Sharif. Sardar Saleem expressed confidence that the PPP would make its Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the next Prime Minister through political strength. He also highlighted that the immediate holding of local body elections is a justified public demand, essential for the stability of the political process. He vowed to visit Jhang to address the public’s grievances.
