BISP, ADB delegation discuss social protection projects
Islamabad:In a significant move to strengthen Pakistan's social safety net, Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Amer Ali Ahmad, warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at the BISP Headquarters today. The meeting was held to review the progress of the Integrated Social Protection Development Program (ISPDP) and its Additional Financing Program, which aim to uplift vulnerable households across the country.
The ADB delegation included prominent officials such as Xin Long, Mission Leader and Principal Social Sector Specialist; Lai Tora, Co-Team Lead; Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, TA Team Leader/National Social Protection Specialist; Dinesh Shiwakoti, PAU Head; and Huma Ambreen, Project Officer. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Tahir Noor, Additional Secretary BISP, and the Director Generals of the Programme.
Discussions centred around the fruitful partnership between BISP and ADB, which dates back to 2013. Both parties reviewed the progress made on various social protection initiatives designed to provide financial aid and support to Pakistan's most vulnerable populations. Secretary BISP, Amer Ali Ahmad, commended ADB’s consistent and invaluable support, highlighting the tangible improvements in the lives of millions of vulnerable families as a result of these collaborations.
Both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to fostering inclusive growth and exploring further avenues for cooperation to enhance social protection systems in Pakistan. The partnership between BISP and ADB continues to play a vital role in advancing the country’s welfare efforts, ensuring a brighter, more secure future for those in need.
