Man killed on University Road was ‘notorious mugger’
A suspect who was shot dead near the Samama Flyover on University Road on Thursday was identified as a notorious criminal with a history of multiple offences.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Adnan, son of Shabbir Ahmed, had an extensive criminal record. Investigations revealed that Adnan, along with an accomplice, had recently snatched a motorcycle in the Saddar area, which was later recovered from his possession.
The police reports indicated that Adnan and his accomplice attempted to rob a citizen at Samama Flyover. When the victim fought back and opened fire, Adnan was fatally shot on the spot, though his accomplice managed to escape.
Further inquiries revealed that Adnan had previous cases registered against him at the Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Sacchal police stations for illegal possession of firearms.
