District judiciary backbone of justice system: IHC CJ
District Courts hosted farewell dinner in honour of IHC CJ Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq has said district judiciary serves as the backbone or pillar in delivering justice to petitioners.
The District Courts of Islamabad hosted a farewell dinner in honour of IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. The Judicial Commission of Pakistan had recently approved the appointments of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq as a judge of the Supreme Court and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb as an acting judge of the Supreme Court.
The event was attended by District and Sessions Judge (East) Muhammad Yar Gondal, District and Sessions Judge (West) Nasir Javaid Rana, and all other judges. IHC senior puisne judge Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, Justice Raja Inam Amin Minhas, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro and Justice Muhammad Asif also participated. However, five judges of the IHC, who had written a letter regarding seniority issues, did not attend the event.
Addressing the judges of the district judiciary, Justice Aamer Farooq said that the subordinate courts in Islamabad are performing exceptionally well. He emphasized, “We judges are not here for ourselves but to protect the rights of the people. We must ensure that justice is provided in accordance with the law.
“The district judiciary is doing an excellent job. This year, the district courts have set a record in disposing of cases, which is only possible due to the hard work of the judges.”
Justice Dogar also addressed the event and said, “The doors of the judiciary will always remain open for the district judiciary. You can approach me for any issue.” He also expressed good wishes for his colleagues moving to the Supreme Court.
In his address, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb stated, “Ninety percent of the decisions of the district courts are upheld in the high court. It is very encouraging that the judges of district judiciary are performing well. As Justice Dogar said, my doors will also always remain open for you.”
Earlier, the district and sessions judge, West Islamabad, in his welcome speech, paid tribute to the IHC judges moving to the Supreme Court.
