Bangladesh seeks stronger trade ties with Pakistan

KARACHI: Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi Mahbubul Alam has expressed a strong commitment to strengthening bilateral trade with Pakistan and urged the Pakistani business community to capitalise on the business opportunities available in Bangladesh. He encouraged Pakistani companies to explore joint ventures, import industrial raw materials and expand exports by assessing market potential in Bangladesh.

The deputy high commissioner assured that the High Commission would extend all possible support to Pakistani traders. He made these remarks during a meeting with a trade delegation led by Salim Valimuhammad, chairperson of the Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), at the Bangladesh High Commission in Karachi, according to a statement issued by the PCDMA on Friday.

He also invited Valimuhammad to visit Bangladesh with a trade delegation, emphasising that fostering bilateral trade requires direct engagement between business communities in both countries. He encouraged business leaders to establish connections and explore new trade opportunities by visiting each other’s markets.

In response to a query from Valimuhammad regarding visa facilitation, the deputy high commissioner assured that visas would be issued to traders based on recommendations from the Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association. He also added that whenever the PCDMA trade delegation plans to visit Bangladesh, the High Commission will provide full support and facilitate business-to-business meetings with Bangladeshi traders.
