Junaid-led PAC to begin parliamentary accountability process next week
PAC will start with taking up audit paras of National Heritage and Culture Division and National Health Services Ministry
ISLAMABAD: The first formal meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will convene on February 12 to begin the process of parliamentary accountability of the government.
Following the election of PTI’s Junaid Akbar as PAC chairman last month, the PAC Secretariat announced a one-month-long schedule for the PAC meetings, which will run from February 12 to March 11.
The election of PAC chairman was held last month after almost 10 months. The current National Assembly took oath on February 29, 2024 following the February 8 elections. The PAC will start the accountability process of audit paras from the previous PDM government, as well as from the caretaker government.
The PAC will start with taking up the audit paras of National Heritage and Culture Division and the Ministry of National Health Services for the year 2023-24.
In its meeting on February 18, the PAC will take up the audit paras for the year 2023-24 of the Ministry of Narcotics Control Division and Petroleum Division.
In its meeting on February 19, it will take up the audit para of Federal Service Commission and the Ministry of Industries and Production for the year 2023-24.
On February 2, the PAC will take up the audit para of the Board of Investment and Power Division for the year 2023-24.
On February 26, the PAC will take up the audit paras of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and the Ministry of Interior for the year 2023-24.
On March 4, the PAC will take up the audit paras of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Foreign Office for the year 2023-24.
The PAC in its meeting on March 5, will take up the audit paras of Pakistan Atomic Energy, Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority, and the Federal Board of Revenue for the year 2023-24.
While on March 11, the PAC will take up the audit paras of National Disaster Management Authority and Finance Division for the year 2023-24.
