Plan to strengthen female leadership in schools unveiled

LAHORE:The Youth Tube and Bargad in collaboration with the Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), School Education Department, Punjab launched HER-izon project at the QAED Auditorium.

According to a press release, unveiled on International Day of Education 2025, the initiative strengthens female leadership in schools, expanding educational access for girls across the province.

Tajammal Abbas Rana, DG QAED Punjab, highlighted QAED’s role in empowering female teachers through leadership skills. He appreciated the alignment of the HER-izon project with Punjab’s education and development goals. He launched the initiative and marked the International Day of Education 2025, themed ‘AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,’ with a cake-cutting ceremony. Iqbal Haider Butt, CEO of Youth Tube, outlined the project's vision, detailing its objectives and the impact. Aamir Riaz elaborated on the professional training component, designed to equip female head teachers with advanced leadership skills.

The event included a panel discussion titled "Women Leading Change in Education," featuring speakers like Dr Faisal Bari, Dr Shakeela Parveen, Shakeel Ahmed Bhatti, Dr Naima Qureshi, Asif Sultan, and Ms Namra Majeed. The panellists explored various themes, including granting greater autonomy to head teachers, adopting a life cycle approach in early education, addressing rigid hierarchies in education governance, building confidence among teachers and students.
