Underpasses and U-turns proposed to end traffic congestion
PESHAWAR: Experts at a workshop here on Monday highlighted the negative impact of traffic congestion on urban life and stressed the need for collaborative efforts among all stakeholders.
The district administration of Peshawar, in collaboration with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Peshawar, organized the workshop. It was titled “Traffic Issues in Peshawar: Causes and Solutions” to address the city’s increasing traffic problems.
The workshop brought together public representatives, officials, media personnel, traders, transport union members, academics, and citizens from various walks of life.They proposed solutions such as constructing underpasses, creating U-turns, designating spaces for street vendors, improving public transport infrastructure, and eliminating illegal encroachments.
