JCP names two additional judges for IHC, three for BHC

Commission by majority nominates Azam Khan and Inaam Ameen Minhas for their appointment to IHC

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) Friday considered nominations of five candidates for appointment as additional judges in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Balochistan High Court (BHC) respectively.

The Commission held two meetings here at the Supreme Court chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi and attended by all the members.

In one sitting, the Commission considered the nominations for appointment of additional judges in the Islamabad High Court and in the second nominations for the appointment of additional judges in the High Court of Balochistan were considered.

In the first meeting, the Commission by majority nominated Muhammad Azam Khan, District & Sessions Judge; and Inaam Ameen Minhas, Advocate Supreme Court; for their appointment as the additional judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The second meeting unanimously nominated Muhammad Asif, Advocate Supreme Court; Muhammad Ayub Khan, Advocate Supreme Court, and Muhammad Najam-ud-Din Mengal, Advocate Supreme Court, for their appointment as the additional judges of the High Court of Balochistan (BHC). “In both meetings, the Commission unanimously decided that the nominees who did not secure the required majority of the total membership of the Commission for finalization of their nominations this time may be re-nominated for future vacancies,” says a press release issued by the Public Relations Department of the Supreme Court.
