Convoy ambushed in Kurram
Security forces return fire, killing six attackers and injuring 10 others, according to official and local sources
PARACHINAR: One soldier was martyred and four others were injured when armed assailants ambushed a convoy in the Bagan town of the restive Kurram district on Thursday.
The security forces returned the fire, killing six attackers and injuring 10 others, according to official and local sources.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ali said that 35 vehicles were on their way from Thall city in the Hangu district for the neighbouring Kurram.
“As the lead vehicle reached Bagan Bazaar, the convoy was ambushed with rockets and automatic weapons, setting three vehicles ablaze. One soldier was martyred and four others were injured in the attack,” the official said.
Security forces retaliated, leaving six attackers dead and 10 wounded. Out of the 35 goods-laden vehicles, only one truck returned to Thall, while 15 empty vehicles — whose goods were looted — managed to return. The remaining vehicles were redirected back to Thall and Hangu from the Chapri Check-post.
